VOLTHAVEN 64
A free N64-style 3D action platformer that runs in your web browser.
There is nothing to install, nothing to download, and no account to create. It is free to
play, with no advertising and no in-app purchases.
VOLTHAVEN 64 needs JavaScript and WebGL to run. This page is showing
because JavaScript is turned off in your browser. Enable it and reload to play.
What it is
You move along magnetic rails through five sectors of a collapsing industrial network,
fighting rogue geometries and restoring the core. Five abilities unlock across the
campaign — arc strike, surge dash, overcharge slam, arc tether and nova — and each of the
five sectors ends in a boss the newest ability is built to beat: the Warden, the
Coilmaster, the Cantor, Aeros and the Ascendant.
How long it takes
About 15 to 30 minutes to finish all five sectors on a first playthrough. Your progress
saves automatically in the browser, so closing the tab does not lose your run. Dying costs
time and nothing else: there are no lives, every sector has checkpoints, and a boss keeps
the damage you have already done to it.
What you can play it on
Any modern browser on desktop, phone or tablet. It supports a keyboard, an on-screen
touchpad on phones and tablets, and any standard gamepad. On a phone you can add it to your
home screen and play it fullscreen.
How it was built
The Nintendo 64 look is emulated rather than filtered: the game renders to a 320x240
internal target and upscales it, quantises colour to 5-6-5 with a 4x4 Bayer dither, and
lights everything per-vertex. The soundtrack is sequenced rather than streamed — eleven
pieces generated at runtime from note data through a 24-voice allocator that genuinely
steals voices, the way the hardware did, for about 7 KB of the download. Built with
Three.js and TypeScript by Design Delight Studio.
